I have much to learn from my children

My children simply mirror what I say and do. Sometimes I hear a statement that they say, like “I’m busy right now” and I realize that that same statement was uttered from my lips a day ago. For this reason I need to be more cognizant of how I speak with them and treat them and others. Am I grumpy? Frustrated? Or loving when I interact with them? What emotions am I projecting onto my children?

Do I intervene constantly and impose my views or do I just let them be and give them space to learn through trial and error and experimention? When I see one of my daughters imposing her views on to her little sister, it doesn’t sit well with me and then I realize that she learned this behaviour from me. I need to stand back and let my children be, show them that they are capable, creative beings that could do and think for themselves. In fact, they are the ones that are closest to their true essence with the least amount of filters and baggage and I have much to learn from them.
