To live in the world of connection

Life is about relationships and connection.

Every time when I stand at the fork in the road, I could either choose an action that will bring me closer to those around me or that will distance me from them. Sadly, I sometimes choose the latter.

Why is this the case? Why do I choose to be satisfied with a superficial level of connection when I know that I could take my relationship with others to greater heights?

The first word that comes to my mind is clutter. I am too busy fixing or making sense of the clutter in my house, head, and life to be inspired to take my love for others to greater levels.

The second word that comes to mind is hurt. I am too preoccupied by the pain and sorrow that I feel for what others did or did not do to me to choose to live in the world of connection.

When I am connecting with others, I am choosing to add light onto this world.

I am choosing to understand those around me by telling them with my tentive eyes, with my listening ears, and with my warm touch, I see you, I hear you, I feel you. You are important to me. You matter to me.

When I am in the world of disconnection, I am choosing to swim in the mucky, filthy waters of  sorrow and pain. I am choosing to diminish the light that could shine onto this world.

I am choosing to revenge against those that caused me distress. Yet, truthfully, I am causing myself the most damage. My health and well-being dwindle because of the stress I put myself in.

I once read that we could either choose to live in the world of connection or disconnection, but, never both simultaneously.

Today I strive to live my life in the world of connection.
